Chance Wrestle Offs
NOTE: This event is not a traditional tournament. Its sole purpose is
to give wrestlers who have not qualified to be part of Team New York in
Fargo an opportunity to do so.
PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THIS EVENT IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO GO TO FARGO.
Because of this, competition will be concluded in each weight class
once the field has been narrowed down to the number of spots available
on the team, which will vary from weight to weight.
On or about May 31, the list of available spots will be published on
www.ny-usaw.org and registration will open
All registration will be on line. The entry site will remain open until
9:00 PM on Friday, June 6. There will be no walk in entries.
Additionally, wrestlers who qualify will be expected to make a $500
deposit toward the trip. It is preferred that the deposit be made on
the day of the qualifier, but must be made no later than June 10.
We will have instructions on how to register and pay by credit or debit
card on line.
When: Sunday, June 8, 2014
Where: Benjamin Cardozo High School, 57-00 223rd Street Oakland Gardens
NY 11364 (Exit 29 on the Long Island Expressway)
Who: Any Junior or Cadet who did not qualify for the Fargo team at the
States in Binghamton and any wrestler who did qualify who wants to
change weights or add a style. Time: Weigh ins - 9:00 AM. All wrestlers
who are competing MUST be in the weigh in area at that time.
Once weigh ins begin, they will continue until everyone has had a
chance to weigh once and challenge the light scale once. You may not
move up if you dont make weight. Wrestling will begin as soon as
brackets are complete, but no earlier than 10:00
Format: Each weight will have its own format depending on how many
openings and how many wrestlers there are in that weight. For instance,
if there is one opening and more than 3 wrestlers, there would be a
single elimination bracket for the spot.
Each wrestler may sign up to compete in one weight in each
style. If a wrestler competes in more than one style, he may need to
wrestle with less rest than if he was only in one style. There will be
a 15 minute guaranteed rest time. Cost: Entry Fee is $15 per style.
Register for each style separately.
All wrestlers must have a current USAW Card. Styles: Freestyle and
Greco Roman
